Presidential debates are the Super Bowls of job interviews. When Mitt Romney stepped up to the podium in Denver alongside of President Obama, you and me (the American public) in effect called them in for the next stage of their interviews. Since presidents are hired on four-year contracts, the person currently holding the job is no more assured of a contract renewal than the challenger is of a new one. The interview process is tough, the job responsibility unparalleled, and the candidates must prove themselves on multiple levels.

The Most Misquoted Bible Passage at Weddings
The Biblical value of teams over individual efforts is described in resonant and simple terms in Ecclesiastes. It is especially interesting that, although someone who held a supreme hierarchical position, namely King Solomon, wrote this passage, he nonetheless saw the wisdom and value of teams even in his day. Even from his lofty throne he thought to include these insights and the model of the triple-braided cord in his volume of wisdom.

Rick Warren’s Real Reason: Why He Cancelled the Candidates
Disappointment was my first response when I learned that Rick Warren, Pastor of Saddleback Church, had decided to cancel the 2012 Civil Forum on the Presidency. This was the pre-debate event in which he was to interview President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney. But I can’t say I was really surprised. From all signs, the name of this event may be the only place in America where you can find the words “Presidency” and “civil” in the same sentence.
